Parents will be pleased to know that their children?s educational needs will be provided by the Cherokee County School District which currently includes one youth school, four elementary schools, three elementary/middle schools, two middle schools and four high schools. Students living in Andrews will more than likely attend Andrews Elementary, Middle and High Schools; Marble Elementary; and/or Nantahala Union School in neighboring Macon County. Tri-County Community College is located nearby for those who are looking to continue their education in a collegiate-level environment. For those who are looking to attend a local four-year university, Appalachian State University, Mars Hill College, University of North Carolina and Western Carolina University are all excellent options.

The Andrews Parks and Recreation Department does a fine job in providing residents with four safe parks that feature a variety of recreational and leisure activities for everyone. The Andrews Recreation Park on Main Street offers a swimming pool, basketball, tennis and beach volleyball courts, softball and little league fields, and a variety of playground equipment. Also, the Andrews Community Center is also located in the Andrews Recreation Park. The Hall Memorial Park features a gazebo that serves as a stage for live music, festivals and plays. Valley River Park is located along the banks of the Valley River and provides residents with scenic spots for fishing and picnicking. Finally, Ferebee Park features a picnic area with restrooms and playground equipment for the little ones.
